• Why is it needed?
When tooth decay is progressed and reaches the pulp tissue, patient experiences pain, because pulp tissue contains the nerve and blood vessels of a tooth. Because the infected soft tissue (pulp) in the tooth is totally encased within hard tissue, tooth pain won’t subside.
• What is a Root Canal?
A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes infected. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form.
• Advantage of Root Canal
An RCT allows you to retain a tooth in your mouth and serve you for a good many more years. The only other alternative to treating a tooth indicated for a RCT is to remove it (extraction). Many patients think that removing a tooth is the easy and cheaper way out. However not only are they wrong about it being the shortcut - it generally turns out to be more Expensive too, as removed tooth has to be replaced by either a three unit bridge or an implant.
